The 39 Steps: A Live Radio Play at Harper Joy Theatre

Date: December 8, 2012 Time: 2:00 p.m. Location: Freimann Studio Theatre

Harper Joy Theatre presents a single performance of The 39 Steps: A Live Radio Play. Placing the audience in the studio of a radio broadcast inspired by Hitchcock’s classic film, Joe Landry’s funny and romantic thriller offers a fast-paced ride through the signature world of the Master of Suspense.

Richard Hannay is visiting 1930s London when he meets Annabella Smith, who is on the run from foreign agents, after a disturbance at a music hall. Later that night, Annabella is murdered and Hannay must then try to break the spy ring and prove his innocence. From an epic train chase to a feisty love interest, Hannay has his work cut out for him as he searches for the truth about The 39 Steps. Seven actors play twenty-six roles as well as managing the sound effects for Hannay’s wild journey. The cast includes Michael Bathurst, Hensley Fradkin, Nik Hagen, Rich Hinz, Jeremy Howell and Henry Nolan.

The 39 Steps will be presented in HJT’s Freimann Studio Theatre. The performance is suitable for all ages. The price of admission, on a first-come, first-serve basis, is one non-perishable food item or $1.00 to be donated to a local food bank. For further information, call 527-5180.
