A Little About Us

The college has approximately 1500 students, and a student-faculty ratio of 10 to 1. The college endowment market value exceeds $300 million, and is one of the largest endowments among private colleges and universities in the Northwest.

The mathematics department has 8 permanent members with 7 positions (one position is shared) with a wide variety of interests and areas of study. We try to keep class sizes small (under 25 for calculus courses and 5-15 for upper level courses). The department runs a Linux computer lab with Maple and Matlab, and we teach all math/physics major how to use Maple and write in LaTeX (Calculus Lab, Math 235)

Walla Walla has a vibrant downtown with a strong arts community, and is internationally known in the wine industry. Walla Walla is home to the "Tour of Walla Walla" (a well known cycling event), and has walking and biking trails. It is about 50 miles away from a ski resort (Bluewood), and is close to the Blue Mountains.
