Welcome to the Whitman College Magazine Online. This issue celebrates Commencement 1999 with photographs and stories of outstanding graduates, honored faculty members, and distinguished speakers as well as the complete text of the Commencement and Baccaulaureate addresses.

Also offered is an overview of the first Whitman Undergraduate Conference at which students presented their work, from a research project on numerical methods to papers on ethnic conflicts around the world to a photographic archaeological study.
