Show Selections FAQ
When are show selections held? Show selections are
held a couple of weeks into each semester (so usually mid-September and late January).
What are "Dubmiles" and how do they work? The more Dubmiles you have, the more likely you are to get the time slot you want at show selections. Having a show for one semester on KWCW gets you 10 Dubmiles, and Dubmiles are also awarded for various other reasons (subbing for a show, playing the news on your show, etc.)
Can I have a show on KWCW? Yes. All Whitman students and faculty are, of course, eligible, but they are several shows on KWCW that are broadcast by DJ's unaffiliated with the college.
Is any experience necessary to have a show? No. We show you everything you need to know.
What's a specialty show? A DJ whose show has a specific focus (folk music, latin music, polka music, etc.) is eligible for specialty show status. Specialty shows get first crack at time slots and are not required to play rotation tracks.
