Sugar, sugar, and more sugar. Saccharine at points, even. Bessy is dressed in tight mod-retro clothes that come in the same colors as a Danelectro guitar. A poppier Neko Case that shops at Urban Outfitters instead of Value Village. Bessy complements her power pop outfit with a Breeders sensibility, though Dressy Bessy actually sounds like a cohesive band unit unlike the all-star lineups of the New Pornographers and the Deals’ Breeders.
