Casiotone for the Painfully Alone

Twinkle Echoes

Solitude can unleash the most scratchy phantoms, and CFTPA releases quite a few of these abrasive banshees through a single Casiotone keyboard and a coarse, lamenting voice. Damaged, vulnerable, alone, restless and gloomy, Casiotonist Owen Ashworth carves a landscape that is both weathered and nebulous, a particular self-loathing with lyrics like “Back in town with damaged lungs/and shot eardrums/and misplaced kisses/and someone who misses me in Kansas.” Check out http://www.livejournal.com/users/cftpaforever for more of CFTPA’s forlorn malaise.

More upbeat tracks can be found in #s 1, 2 and 3, but to get a good dose of disquietude and frustration, check out tracks 5 and 11. -- Tom Powers
