Whitman College does not offer a major in Japanese Language and Literature, but students may want to consider using their skills in Japanese or their interest in Japanese studies to earn a major in Asian Studies. Students interested in a minor in Japanese Language and Literature must consult with Professor Takemoto first. You may contact him at 527-5896 or at takemoto@whitman.edu. The general requirements for a minor in Japanese language and literature are as follows: Japanese 205, 206 (or equivalent); plus a minimum of twelve credits in advanced Japanese language (300 level or above) and Japanese literature courses. Japanese literature courses offered under Studies in World Literature may be used to satisfy the requirements for this minor, but Professor Takemoto's classes in art and art history cannot be used for this minor. |
