IRA Charitable Rollover
Leverage Your IRA to Brighten Students' Futures
Minimize Your Taxable IRA Income and Support Whitman College
A special provision permitting tax-free charitable transfers from IRAs is scheduled to expire at the end of the 2013 tax year. Your gift to Whitman – whether directed to faculty support, scholarships or elsewhere – helps ensure today’s Whitman students are prepared to address the challenges of tomorrow.
Here’s how it works:
- You must be at least 70 ½ years of age at the time the direct charitable distribution is completed.
- The amount transferred directly to Whitman will not be included in your gross income - it is a tax-free distribution.
- A contribution from your IRA directly to a qualified charity will count toward your annual required minimum distribution (RMD).
To make a gift, contact the company administering your IRA and authorize a charitable distribution from your IRA directly to Whitman College.
