Advancing our Mission

academics

Your annual gifts make a difference! Contributions from alumni, parents, and friends – past, present, and future – are an essential and influential component of providing a well-rounded liberal arts education. Annual Giving provides the current operating dollars that afford flexible and fundamental support for key programs, both academic and co-curricular.

Tuition and fees cover roughly 68 percent of the cost of educating each student, with the remainder generated by income from endowment and charitable gifts. Annual Giving contributions help acquire updated resources for the library; fund faculty salaries for new cross-disciplinary classes; or provide stipends for the Student Engagement Center Internship Program and much more to provide a Whitman education to today's students.

These gifts allow Whitman to educate and inspire the next generation of graduates – to help these young people become creative catalysts of change, responsible citizens, and the leaders of tomorrow.
