The morphology of pre-eruption North Crater cinder cone at Craters of the Moon National Monument is unknown. Much of the northern two-thirds of the crater wall was rafted as far away as five miles in as many as three lava flows from vents near the base. By locating and examining the rafted blocks of crater wall, I hope to gain some understanding of the size and shape of North Crater, as well as the block-rafting processes involved.
