Seeking participants for Instant Play Festival
Harper Joy Theater is gearing up for the sixth annual Instant Play Festival, and faculty and staff volunteers are welcome to participate.
The festival is a unique event in which students attend workshops with professional playwrights for three weeks and then write, produce and perform 14 plays in just 48 hours. This year’s festival will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28 and Sunday, Sept. 29.
Volunteer actors and directors should email Kristen Kosmas, assistant professor of theater at email@example.com, for more details. No previous experience is necessary, and the time commitment is minimal since each ten-minute play will be rehearsed and performed on the same day.
Staff gears up for new year
Last Tuesday, Aug. 27, staff members gathered together for the annual back-to-school staff breakfast.
President George Bridges addressed the staff in a speech to thank them for all of their hard work this summer preparing the campus for the upcoming academic year. He reminded guests that Whitman only achieves greatness through its people.
“The secret to Whitman’s success the secret to any institution’s success is its people. In you, I have witnessed dedication and commitment to one another and to our noble mission that I have experienced nowhere else,” he said.
