Dave Holden Memorial service

In case you missed the crushing news last week, Sports Information Director Dave Holden passed away Aug. 3, 2012. Click HERE to read Whitman’s tribute and a recap of the memorial service. Also, Union-Bulletin sports editor Jim Buchan wrote a column honoring Dave.

The coaches have decided to honor Holden with a patch that teams will wear on uniforms or put on gear. The design also will be posted on the athletics website and used in printed athletics materials, such as game programs and team rosters.

Staff invited to teach a “Life Skills” session

The Student Activities Office is again looking for staff members willing to participate in the Life Skills Series. Interested staff members may sign up to share a talent, hobby or important life skill with a group of about eight to 15 students at a time of their choice. The series is an opportunity for students to get to know staff while learning valuable skills not taught in the classroom. Popular courses last year included car maintenance, cooking, mending, cross stitch, meditation and bike repair. In surveys conducted last year, students also requested courses in plumbing, carpentry, business, balancing checkbooks, budgeting, letter writing, canning, crafts, etiquette, baking and outdoor skills.

With questions or to sign up, contact Katherine Curles ’07, student activities and orientation program adviser, at or x4436
