Whitman has one of the largest squads in the country. In 2011-12, we have 4 to 5 policy debate teams, 11 to 12 parliamentary debate teams, and 24 individual events competitors plus an additional group of 8 to 10 part time participants. Whitman’s program hosts public debates, the intramural debates, and the Dovell-Gose Oratory contest. Whitman’s squad is successful. Students work hard. Students prepare and practice extensively. They’re doing everything they can to be as good as they can be. Students compete against the best programs in the country such as Harvard, Northwestern, UC Berkeley, Dartmouth.
