COACHES—A NOTE ABOUT JUDGES
YOU BRING
All judges in Policy and LD Debate need
to be able to flow competently.
All judges who have judged or competed
at 5 or fewer tournaments—need to do Judge Training AND SHOULD JUDGE NOVICE AND
JUNIOR DIVISION ONLY.
Please train and talk with your judges.
Have them watch practice debates. Have them fill out example ballots.
Please—Bring
Good Judges. HELP US MAKE THIS A GREAT TOURNAMENT.
·
Each
Policy Team requires ½ a judge.
If
you have 3 Policy Teams and 2 Parli Teams, you need 2
and ½ judges. If you only have 2 judges, you’ll need to hire a judge to cover a
team at $100 per uncovered team ($100).
·
Each
LD debater and Parli, and Public Forum team requires
¼ a judge.
If
you have 3 LD Debaters, 2 Parli Teams, and 2 Public
Forum teams, you need 1 and ¾ judges. If you only have 1 judge, you’ll need to
hire to cover 3 debaters/teams at $50 per uncovered debaters/teams ($150).
·
Each
IE or Student Congress entry requires 1/6 a judge.
If
you have 8 IE entries and 7 Student Congress entries, you need 2 and ½ judges.
If you only have 2 judges, you’ll need to hire to cover 3 IE slots at $10 per
uncovered IE slot ($30).
Do the following calculations:
POLICY: (No. Policy
Teams) minus (No. Policy Judges you bring times 2) x $100
Example:
You have 3 Policy Teams and bring 1 judge:
(3) minus (1 times 2) x $100 =
$100
LD: (No. LD Debaters,
Public Forum & Parli Teams) minus (No. PubForum-Parli-LD Judges you
bring times 4) x $50
Example:
You have 2 LDers, 3 Parli
Teams and bring 1 judge: (5) minus (1
times 4) x $50 = $50
IE-CONGRESS: (No. IE
and Congress Slots) minus (No. IE Congress Judges you bring times 6) x
$10
Example:
You have 8 IE Slots and 5 Congress Entries and bring 1 judge: (13) minus (1 times 6) x $10 = $70
Reminder:
A student in two events such as impromptu and extemp
counts as 2 slots/entries.
· NOTICE—SCHOOLS
WILL be fined if their judges do not show or turn in ballots late.
