Technology Services provides netFiles as a means of storing your files on the network so that you can access them from any computer on campus or from an off campus location. There are several ways to connect to netFiles, and each of those ways has its own quirks.
netFiles Folders provide you with a way of accessing your files on your Mac as if they were stored on your Mac. That is, you can open files, save them, move, copy, etc. just as you are used to. The only major difference is that accessing your files will be somewhat slower with netFiles as compared to dealing with files on your computer's hard drive.
If you have never logged into netFiles, you need to login to netfiles web to create your account. To do this, go to http://netfiles.whitman.edu and do the following:
You are now ready to setup the netFiles folder
NOTE: To use netFiles Folders, you must be running Mac OS X 10.4 or higher.

Once you are connected, you can edit and save files just as you normally would. When saving new files, (or when you choose "Save As...") choose the icon with your username from the left column to save to netFiles. This might not work with every program. If it does not work with the file you are trying to save, save the file to the desktop (or a similar location) first and then drag the file to netFiles Folders.
