Setting up netFiles Folders on a PC

If you have never logged into netFiles, you need to login to netfiles web to create your account. To do this, go to http://netfiles.whitman.edu and do the following:

  • Enter your user name in the box provided
  • Enter your network password (the password you use to start your computer) in the box provided
  • Click OK
  • Click Logout
  • Close the browser window

You are now ready to setup the netFiles folder

  • Click the Windows Start button.
  • If you are using Windows XP:
    • Click My Computer -> My Network Places
    • In the left blue menu, click the Add a Network Place link.
  • If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    • Click Computer
    • In a blank part of the window, right click and select Add a Network Place from the menu
  • An 'Add Network Place' wizard will pop-up. Click next to continue
  • In the next window, select Choose another network location and click next.
  • In the resulting " internet or network address " box type
https://netfiles.whitman.edu/home/ username
(substitute your own username for username )
  • Click Next
  • When prompted, enter your username and your network password
  • Click OK
  • In the next window, type a name for this connection you have just created such as " username on netFiles "
  • Click Next
  • Click Finish

Note : You may make as many connections as needed by repeating the steps above and giving them distinct names.
