Virus Protection
The college requires all computers connected to the Whitman College network to be installed with a anti-virus software.
Hence, the college provides anti-virus software free of charge for all Whitman owned computers and for all students residing in residence halls. If you are a student living in a residence hall and would like a free antivirus software, come to WCTS to check out an installation disk.
Your anti-virus software depends on a file called a
DAT or a
Virus Definition to recognize the latest viruses and worms. Since new virus appear all the time, you need to download the update this Virus Definition/DAT file on a regular basis. Make sure to configure your software to download/update its virus definition.
