Configuring McAfee Enterprise for Weekly Updates (Faculty and Staff)

WCTS strongly recommends that you update your McAfee virus definitions at least once per week. To configure the McAfee Enterprise virus scanner (version 7.1or2) to automatically update the virus definitions once per week, please do the following.

Right-click on the "VirusScan" icon which you can find on the lower right side of your desktop by the clock.

TIP: This icon may be hidden. Click on "show hidden icons" (the round blue circle with a < pointing left) to display hidden icons.

Left-click on the "VirusScan Console" option.

Double-click on "AutoUpdate".

Left-click on the "Schedule" button.

Left-click on the "Schedule" tab.

Select "Weekly" on the "Schedule Task" drop-down list.

Selecet a day of the week, time and other options as shown below.

IMPORTANT: Make sure the "Enable Randomization" and "Run missed tasks" options are both selected.

IMPORTANT: Select a day of the week and a time when your computer will be on. The automatic updates will not work if the computer is off or not logged in at the scheduled time.

Click on "Apply" and then "OK" to save your changes.
