Using Public Lab Computers

You need a standard Whitman account to use computers in public computer labs (e.g. Maxey Lab, Olin Lab, Science Lab and Penrose Library).

NOTE:  If you are a visitor (short-term) or guest (long term), you need to obtain appropriate accounts.

  1. When you sit at a public computer, a login window should be displayed. If not, press the Ctrl-Alt-Del keys.
  2. Enter your username and password. This was provided when you activated your account. Make sure you don't add "@whitman.edu" to your username.
    • If you cannot remember your password, go to the WCTS Help Desk with your Whitman ID card and have it reset.
  3. Click OK.

When you finish using the computer, you must logout. Otherwise, another person will potentially have access to your files and any applications you have logged into (e.g. webmail, netFiles, FaceBook, etc).

  1. Click on the Start button at the bottom of your screen, or the Apple menu on Mac.
  2. Click on the Log Off then follow the direction.
