Most people only have one username and password on the campus network. This is known as your standard Whitman account. faculty and staff Mac users may have a second password to remember.

Your standard Whitman username is just your email address without the "@whitman.edu."

Standard Whitman Account

Access to most Whitman web based applications as well as our Windows network.

Initial Password

Randomly created by the system and displayed when you activated your Whitman account. This same password is used as your "initial" password for Campus Network, Macintosh administration, and CLEo access, so make sure to write this down!

Changing Password

Use the Online Password Changing service. For help selecting a password see: Choosing a Secure Password

Forgot Password

Come to WCTS office in Olin 168 with your ID. It will be reset to one randomly created by the system.

Macintosh OSX Administrative Password for Faculty/Staff Mac Users

For faculty and staff office Macs only--required when you install software, system updates, and in some cases when you start up your computer)

Initial Password

The original password you received when you activated your email account.

Changing Password

  1. For help selecting a password see: Choosing a Secure Password
  2. Choose System Preferences... from the Apple menu
  3. Click the Accounts icon
  4. Highlight your username in left column
  5. Click Password tab in right portion of window
  6. Click Change Password...
  7. Type new password in appropriate boxes. (Note: You will be asked for your old password.)
  8. When finished, close the System Preferences window

Note: Click on Dial-up Access for information on using Whitman's modem pool. To reset or change your Datatel administrative system password e-mail webadvisor@whitman.edu.
