LDAP in Thunderbird


LDAP settings window

  1. Open Thunderbird and click the Address Book icon.
  2. From the File menu of the Address Book, select New, then LDAP Directory.
  3. Enter a custom name, such as My Whitman LDAP.
  4. For Hostname, enter ldap.whitman.edu
  5. Set Base DN to ou=People, dc=whitman, dc=edu
  6. Click OK and then close the Address Book window.
  7. Select Tools > Options (Windows) or Thunderbird > Preferences (OS X).
  8. Click on the Composition button in the top bar and then select the Addressing tab.
  9. Fill the checkbox next to Directory Server and choose "My Whitman LDAP" (or the custom name you chose) from the drop-down menu next to it.
  10. Click OK to accept the changes.
  11. Return to the Tools menu and select Account Settings.
  12. Select Composition & Addressing from the list of options on the left side of the window.
  13. On the right side of the window, under the "Addressing" section, choose Use a different LDAP server.
  14. From the drop-down menu below, choose My Whitman LDAP (or the custom name you chose).
  15. Click OK to save the changes.
