IMS Procedures

 

Equipment Checkout

IMS will check out equipment to faculty, staff, and students at Whitman as long as there is equipment available. IMS will maintain two pools of checkout equipment, one of which is reserved for faculty use only.

Recording events

IMS will videotape guest lectures and other similar events, provided we have enough advanced notice and the equipment and staff are available. There will be a fee for materials and labor. Within five (5) business days, we will transfer the video from the original MiniDV tape to a DVD. We will notify you when the transfer is complete and you may pick up both the original MiniDV tape and the DVD from the IMS office. You may come in any time during normal business hours (no appointment is necessary).

Classroom Maintenance and Security

Classroom equipment needs to be maintained periodically. Please do not save any important files on classroom computers. The computers will be updated frequently and wiped completely clean once or twice each year.

All classroom equipment will be locked in place. Please do not move equipment or any of the cables. The equipment works the way we have it set up, so nothing should ever need to be changed. If there is a problem with any of the classroom equipment, please contact the IMS office at 527-5257 or ims@whitman.edu immediately. Please do not try to fix the problem(s) yourself.

Training

IMS offers training in the use of smart classroom equipment to any faculty member. We will do training in the room of your choice or in any available room, depending on your preference. Call the IMS office at 527-5257 or ims@whitman.edu to arrange for training.
