Tech equipment for your academic and administrative needs
Technology Services offers a wide variety of free equipment for checkout, including laptops, data projectors, video cameras,and more. This equipment can be requested by Whitman Faculty, Students, and Staff for academic and administrative purposes. Equipment can be checked out from our Instructional Multimedia Services office (IMS) in Hunter, or in some cases from the division offices Maxey, Olin, and Science.
Please note checkout equipment is for academic and administrative use only.
How to checkout equipment:

IMS is your primary point of contact for equipment checkout and information. IMS offers checkout, delivery, setup, and operation of multimedia equipment. IMS requests two (2) business days notice for classes between 8am and 4pm Monday through Friday and five (5) business days notice for all other needs. - Academic Division offices (Maxey, Olin, Science)
A limited amount of equipment for faculty use is availablefor checkout from division offices. Equipment checkout sign-up calendars are available in each office. Please contact IMS (see above) or learn more here about available equipment and checkout details.

- Technology Services main office
A limited amount of equipment is available from our main office in Olin. Equipment for faculty/staff checkout includes laptops, conference call-ready telephones, and a digital camera (still). Students may checkout equipment to enhance residence hall networking, including network switches and wirelss adaptors (for interst houses).

Assistance with equipment usage/setup
Whether you need help using a checked out laptop, or technical assistance in running a presentation/event with our equipment, we've got you covered. For normal or emergency technical support, contact the Helpdesk, (see the red box above). For event technical support, please use our online event support request form. (Please note that due to the complexity of supporting events, we request a minimum of 5 working days notice.)

Equipment for presenting/teaching in a classroom or auditorium...

How long can I borrow equipment? What if I'm late?
Equipment checkout periods vary depending on the type of equipment, ranging from a few hours to an entire semester. For complete details on your length of checkout and due date, please contact the place from which you checked out equipment, or when in doubt, contact IMS (527-5257, ims@whitman.edu).
Late fees do apply to late returns, again varying upon the type of equipment. In general, however, late fees ar $10/day, up to the replacement cost of the equipment. Late returns of laptops checked out in the library are $5/hour, up to the replacement cost of the equipment.
