Software for Poster Designs

Types of software

WCTS recommends and supports the following software applications for poster designs:

• Photoshop
• InDesign
• Illustrator
• Powerpoint (especially for beginners)
• Pages (iWork)

Do not use:

• Microsoft Publisher
• Microsoft Word
• Keynote (iWork)

(Poster designs created in Publisher, Word, or Keynote require a transfer into one of the recommended software applications above. This will involve substantial time and effort for you.  Avoid the problem by using one of the recommended software applications listed above.)

Locations for software

Powerpoint is available on all general access lab computers. Pages is available on all lab Mac computers.  Adobe software (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) is available in the Multimedia Development Lab, Hunter 108. (Appointments are strongly recommended. Indicate that you're working on a poster for the Undergraduate Conference.)

Technical help

Technical help is available at the MDL for any of the supported software applications.  Please make an appointment and indicate that it is for a UC poster.
