Student Technology Advisory Committee (STAC)

Description

The Student Technology Advisory Committee (STAC) advises Whitman College Technology Services on academic and student computing. The committee is also a forum for any changes to WTCS policy that impacts students. Six student members serve on this committee for the duration of their time at Whitman.

Nominations Process:

There are three student/faculty College Committees that have student seats and six student Advisory Committees. ASWC is responsible for appointing representatives to these committees. The appointment process to all these committees is carried out by the ASWC Nominations Chair in accordance with Article IX of the by-laws. The general procedure works as follows:

  1. The Nominations Chair solicits applications from the student body for all available positions.
  2. The candidates are evaluated by the ASWC Standing Nominations Committee based on written applications and interviews conducted by the Committee.
  3. The Nominations Chair presents the decision of the Standing Nominations Committee to the ASWC Joint Session, which will confirm or reject the nominees by a majority vote.
After confirmation, the student representatives to the various committees attend all meetings of the committee to which they were appointed, and may be requested to make periodic reports to the Senate on the business of that Committee.
