Hillel-Shalom

Through educational and social programming for the entire community, Hillel-Shalom encourages understanding of and pride in the Jewish heritage and provides a forum of support for the religious and cultural needs of Jewish members. We also hope to increase awareness of the Jewish culture at Whitman and in the greater Walla Walla community. We work closely with our local synagogue, Congregation Beth Israel and to plan events and services for the holidays which fall during the school year. This year, our group is starting the year off with a B'nai Mitzvah party in hopes of attracting both new and returning members. Other events we will plan throughout the year include monthly Shabbat dinners, a Tzedakah (community service) project, holiday celebrations such as our Passover seder and Sukot celebration, a retreat and possibly a Birthright Trip to Israel.
