GlobeMed

GlobeMed aims to strengthen the movement for global health equity by partnering students with grassroots health organizations worldwide. GlobeMed at Whitman will partner with Burmese Women's Union (BWU,) an organization in Mae Sot, Thailand, that works with women's refugees. BWU operates a health care clinic, provides reproductive health trainings, and works with women in situations of domestic violence. They also run an internship and a political empowerment program to educate young women. GlobeMed at Whitman will have a campaign and put on fundraisers to raise money for a health project that we will design with BWU. We will also host educational events about Global Health on Whitman's campus to create a dialogue about current Global Health inequities. We also plan to occasionally volunteer with organizations in Walla Walla to build a sense of community in the local area.
