Campus Conservatives

Description

Campus Conservatives is an organization that exists to advance the conservative viewpoint on the Whitman campus and provide a safe environment for campus conservatives. We will accept anyone willing to work to advance some portion of the conservative agenda at Whitman College. We also seek to create an active dialogue on campus concerning the important political issues that shape our world, and are committed to working to broaden horizons in a passionate but respectful manner.

Conservatism is a broad political philosophy that encompasses fiscal conservatism, social conservatism, and some aspect of Libertarianism. Some positions that are considered conservative include favoring states rights, small government, fiscal conservatism, the right to own a firearm, a strong national defense, free market economics, and an America that treats people equally rather than as members of special classes or categories.

As a club we work to bring speakers to campus, educate our fellow students about conservatism, cultivate an atmosphere of healthy political discussion, and ensure that the campus gives fair voice to the conservative end of the political spectrum. We also work to elect politicians to local, state and national office.

If there is any portion of the Republican or Conservative agenda today that you believe in, sign up and see what we're about. Members of Campus Conservatives need not to be members of the Republican Party or vote Republican.
