|
Description The Campus Climate Challenge is a project of more than 30 leading youth organizations throughout the U.S. and Canada. The Challenge leverages the power of young people to organize on college campuses and high schools across Canada and the U.S. to win 100% Clean Energy policies at their schools. The Challenge is growing a generation-wide movement to stop global warming, by reducing the pollution from our high schools and colleges down to zero, and leading our society to a clean energy future. The Whitman Campus Climate Challenge is working to persuade the College administration to adopt a plan to achieve climate neutrality within ten years. The Whitman Campus Climate Challenge is a group of over 50 Whitman students, faculty and staff who are actively working to get Whitman to reduce its contribution to climate change. We have been active as this group since the beginning of Fall semester 2006. The Whitman Campus Climate Challenge is affiliated with Whitman Campus Greens and works together to improve Whitman's relationship with with the environment we live in.
We work with various different clubs and organizations on campus to educate, put on events and do outreach around climate change, including the Associated Students of Whitman College (ASWC), ASWC Public Films, ASWC Public Speakers, the Global Awareness Interest House, the Environmental Studies, Sociology, Geology, Biology, and Politics departments, and the Conservation and Recycling Committee. |
