The following are some appropriate links to various security-related
Whitman departments, staff,
and other information:
This office is involved with just about every aspect of student
life outside the classroom. Dean Chuck Cleveland is
responsible for all the student services on campus and is truly
interested in making sure you have a satisfying experience at
Whitman.
Associate Dean Barbara Maxwell is responsible for Greek life,
Reid Campus Center, and new student orientation.
If you have any suggestions, grievances, problems, or questions,
contact the Dean of Students Office.
The center offers personal and psychological counseling by
professionally trained counselors to all students at no charge.
Counselors assist individuals and groups with personal and
academic concerns, career choices, interpersonal relationships,
and other areas of concern or interest.
The Health Center is located on campus with a 16-bed capacity and
is staffed by nurses around the clock. Although the Health
Center is designed primarily as an out-patient facility for the
management of minor injuries and illnesses, medical care will be
provided for any and all condition which do not require
hospitalization.
This network (and accompanying
report form) was designed to
simplify the reporting process for
the survivors of sexual assault or other forms of sexual misconduct.
It allows for the report to be filled out by either the survivor or
a third party (friend, professor, staff member), and also allows for
the report to remain anonymous. The use of this form should increase
the accuracy of reporting the number of incidents at Whitman.
Peer Counseling Center
This Center is made up of Whitman students who are committed to
listening and helping their peers. They are not professionals,
rather they are students who have been trained extensively in
peer counseling and who are trying to provide a beneficial
service to other students. Although the Peer Counseling Center
is an extension of the Whitman Counseling Center, it is entirely
student-staffed and directed, and consists of people with natural
rapport whose background is common to yours. This enables them
to provide many services in an environment which is an
alternative to conventional counseling. All services are private
and confidential.
Safety Committee (Kathy Rogers x5946)
This committee is responsible for improving campus safety and
disseminating information concerning campus safety. The committee is composed of representatives from the
administration, the faculty, and the student body.
