Student shall submit an application for Admission to Candidacy for Honors in Major Study to the Chair in the major department by October 9, 2009 for 5/10 graduates taking Honors in Spring 2010 and February 26, 2010 for 12/10 candidates taking Honors in Fall 2010. The form must be signed by the supervising professor. The application consists of the following items submitted to the appropriate department chair(s)*:

- Admission to Candidacy for Honors in Major Study form available from the Registrar's Office or by clicking here.
- A written project proposal of at least one but not more than two pages, which should contain a plausible thesis rather than a broad topic.
- A bibliography of at least one page, which should be more selective than a list of all catalog entries under a specific subject. In addition, it should contain some recent work.
- The major department will meet and review applications, department chairs* will sign the application forms, and the original Admission to Candidacy for Honors in Major Study forms will be returned to the Registrar's Office (the department should keep a copy for their records) by November 1, 2009 for Spring 2010 Honors and April 5, 2010 for Fall 2010 Honors.
- Students may not register for honors thesis until the Registrar's Office has Honors approval on file.
- After registration, if a student chooses not to pursue Honors in Major Study, a change in registration should be made immediately by the student in the Registrar's Office.
