Off-Campus Studies General Information

MAJOR ADVISERS

Major Adviser approval is required for all students who wish to study off-campus and transfer their credit toward their Whitman degree.  Tips on how to complete the Major Adviser portion of the Whitman Off-Campus Study (OCS) Application can be found under Major Adviser Approval for OCS Applications.

PRE-MAJOR ADVISERS

Please review Planning Tips for Pre-Major Advisers, an information sheet about foreign language requirements and other course selection guidelines. These tips may offer some assistance as you discuss off-campus study plans with students pursuing off-campus study during their third year at Whitman.  Pre-major adviser approval may also be sought for summer study abroad if a student has not yet declared a major.

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION

Faculty who have been asked to write off-campus study letters of recommendation may wish to refer to our Letters of Recommendation section for tips about what programs expect from the letters and where to submit them.

FACULTY-LED TRIPS ABROAD

Faculty who are accompanying students outside the United States should review the International Trip Approval Guidelines for an application and required forms.
