Transcripts and Whitman GPA

Partner Programs

Course titles, credits and grades (A through F) for courses taken on Partner Programs will be posted on the Whitman transcript. Even though the course will post on the Whitman transcript, students will not earn transfer credit toward their degree for courses for which they did not earn a C- or better. The Partner Program grades are not calculated into the Whitman cumulative grade point average.

Please note that even though off-campus course grades do not get calculated into the Whitman cumulative gpa, the off-campus grades will be scrutinized if you apply to graduate school or apply for a job in which they request a copy of all college transcripts.

Approved and Petitioned Programs

For students studying abroad prior to Fall 2013 on Approved and/or Petitioned Programs, course titles and credits for courses taken on Approved Programs and Petitioned Programs will be posted on the Whitman transcript, provided that the student has earned a C- or better in the course. However, no study abroad grades will appear on the Whitman transcript and the Approved and Petitioned Program grades are not calculated into the Whitman cumulative grade point average.

Contested Grades

Students who believe they have a genuine reason for challenging a grade received on their off-campus program should consult with the faculty member who taught the course or the program staff.  As a general rule, Whitman College is not able to change grades issued by other institutions.
