Welcome to Whitman College Off-Campus Studies! We believe that an understanding of a culture or region other than one's own is an important part of a liberal arts education and a key to developing future leaders in an increasingly interdependent global society. In keeping with that view, the College encourages qualified students to study abroad either in a foreign country or on a U.S. Partner Program during their college careers. We are here to help you make your off-campus studies plans a reality!

  • 50% of the junior class studies abroad for one semester or the academic year.
  • Whitman is partnered with various study abroad organizations to offer 42 Partner Programs in 23 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and Oceania.
  • Whitman also offers urban-based Partner Programs in Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and the Semester in the West environmental studies program that travels in the western U.S.
  • Students can apply their Whitman need-based aid and merit scholarships toward the fees of all Partner Programs.
  • In recent years Whitman has sponsored faculty-led summer programs in China and Ecuador.
