Women Fall in 2-1 Battle

Walla Walla, Wash. -- The Whitman Women's Soccer Team fell 2-1 in a tight, well played game on the road against Webster University. Jaclyn Rudd, scored Whitman's only goal as the team took advantage of its opportunities, putting four of it's five shots on goal.

In the team's opener, Whitman fell behind early as Webster's Kristin Montgomery scored her first goal of the season in the 10th minute. Undaunted, the Missionaries defense buckled down until a breakthrough came in the 44th minute. Whitman's senior captain, Rudd knotted the score at 1-1, picking up where she left off by producing her first goal of the season.

In the second half, Montgomery put Webster ahead with her second goal of the game in the 58th minute. After Webster's second goal, the defenses took over. In the final 35 minutes, only three shots were taken. Whitman's last chance came when Jade Anderson put a shot on goal in the 85th minute.

The Whitman Women will take tomorrow off before taking on Washington University at 10:30am (PST) on Sunday. Live stats and live video will be available for the game.
