WALLA WALLA, Wash.-- The life and works of legendary American poet Walt Whitman and his place in cyberspace will be the topic of a lecture on the Whitman College campus Thursday, March 2.
Ken Price is a 1976 graduate of Whitman College and the co-editor and co-founder of the Walt Whitman Archive (http://www.whitmanarchive.org), an academic Web site about Walt Whitman. Price will present “Walt Whitman in Cyberspace: Leaves of Grass 150 years Later,” in which he will address “What’s at stake in editing Whitman now?” He will speak at 7 p.m. in Room 157, Olin Hall, and his lecture is free and open to the public.
In addition to serving as co-editor of the Walt Whitman Archive, Price is also the Hillegass Chair of American Literature at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and the co-director of digital research in the humanities at the university. He is co-founder of the Classroom Electric: Dickinson, Whitman, and American Culture (http://www.classroomelectric.org), and the author of eight books, a CD on Whitman and numerous articles.
