WALLA WALLA— Whitman College has one of the highest graduation rates in Washington.
Only about 59% of students from Washington colleges graduate from the school they start at within 6 years, but 86% of students graduate from Whitman College in Walla Walla.
Whitman says they've worked very hard at getting those numbers up.
They told Action News this year's numbers will be even higher at 89%.
“We look very carefully at how students fit and second thing is they have adequate support for such a small college. We offer extensive support to be successful despite those difficulties,” Whitman president George Bridges said.
Gonzaga was second in the state for the highest graduation rate.
WSU has 63%; at the bottom of the list is Heritage University near Yakima with 17%.
