WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The first-ever Whitman College W Club Golf Tournament has been slated for Friday, Oct. 2, at the new Wine Valley Golf Club five miles west of Walla Walla.

Proceeds from the 18-hole event, which begins with a shotgun start at 1 p.m., will benefit the varsity sports program at Whitman.

The W Club, a group of Whitman alumni and friends of the college, recently organized to generate more support for Whitman's varsity athletic teams as they pursue the same level of excellence long maintained by the college’s academic programs.

Golfers are welcome to register for the tournament as individuals or as foursomes. For those who register by Sept. 1, the cost is $150 per person, which includes membership in the W Club. The cost after Sept. 1 is $175.

The tournament field is limited to 120 players, so early registration is encouraged. Golfers will compete for a variety of prizes. The event also includes a number of silent auction items.

The tournament cost includes a barbecue banquet that follows the round of golf. Dinner tickets are $50 per person for those who want to attend the event without playing golf.

A variety of sponsorship opportunities, including business signage at the tournament, are also available.

To register for the tournament, or for more information, please contact Whitman assistant athletics director Skip Molitor by phone (509 301-8505) or e-mail (molitore@whitman.edu).

Golfers can also click here to register for the tournament online.
