"I'm Going to College" program brings Edison Elementary students, media attention to Whitman

Whitman College and Edison Elementary School’s fifth-graders made the news on Friday, Feb. 24, when the grade-school students descended on Whitman for a day as college students. The Walla Walla Union-Bulletin and KEPR TV from the Tri-Cities chronicled their day as they met college president George Bridges, took classes in writing, chemistry and the stars, and learned about admission and financial aid. “I’m Going to College” day is sponsored around the region by colleges in conjuction with the Northwest Education Loan Association, which guarantees student loans.
