POSITION
PURPOSE
The Planned Giving & Foundations Assistant supports the Development Office in general, and
specifically the Director of Foundation & Corporate Relations, the Director
and Assistant Director of Planned Giving, and the Director of Advancement
Services. This position requires discretion, attention to detail, excellent
office and computer skills, including Word and Excel, and ability to compose
correspondence and meet deadlines.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assists
the Director and Assistant Director of Planned Giving with life income
contracts; estate gifts, organizing several meetings a year of the Planned
Giving Committee and the Planned Giving Advisory Council; special
projects, editing newsletters, brochures, and other materials; mailing
unitrust statements; and other mailings as needed.
- Assists
the Director of Foundation & Corporate Relations with grant proposals;
uploading proposals and related correspondence to Millennium; and researching
grant prospects.
- Assists the Director of Advancement Services
with data entry, analysis and research, and provides support as needed for
special projects.
- Assists Major Gifts Officers and Associate Vice
President with special projects on an as needed basis.
- Miscellaneous duties for various staff members
includes preparing correspondence; making travel arrangements; attending
meetings and preparing the minutes for these meetings; purchasing office
supplies; preparing miscellaneous materials such as RSVP lists, schedules,
agendas, itineraries, and nametags; preparing prospect folders and
materials for trips; reserving rooms, arranging catering, and other duties
for events; preparing birthday cards for alumni; fundraising software data
entry and maintenance; troubleshooting low-level software problems;
backing up the Executive Assistant and the Administrative Assistants in
their absence; and answering the college information telephone line as
needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Individuals must be able to explain and/or demonstrate that
they possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to safely perform the
essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Able to communicate both orally and in writing at a
high skill level.
- Demonstrated general office skills including
spelling, proofreading, and computer skills.
- Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Associate degree or equivalent
in experience, general computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets
and ability to learn specialized computer programs are required.
