Standards-Compliant Web Browsers

We've upgraded www.whitman.edu

The web team at Whitman College is in the process of converting our site to work with standards-compliant web browsers. If you are reading this your browser was unable to read the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) used by our new site. Is this bad? Not necessarily. You could be reading this on your cell phone or PDA in which case you'd probably rather not be scrolling left to right just to read our content.

If you are on an older browser (version 4 or less) you will need to upgrade in order to view our site with styles. There are many free browsers to choose from:

If you are using Windows:

The latest versions of Internet Explorer, Netscape, FireFox and Mozilla all support the web standards used on this site. Please visit their web sites and follow their instructions to download and upgrade your browser.

If you are using Macintosh:

The latest versions of Safari, Netscape, FireFox and Mozilla all support the web standards used on this site. Please visit their web sites and follow their instructions to download and upgrade your browser.

Still not convinced?

Rest assured that you will still be able to view the content on our site. It may not be pretty, but it won't break your web browser. That's the beauty of a standards-compliant web site.
