Spring 2013 Premedical Committee Interviews and Letters of Evaluation for Applicants to Allopathic (MD) & Osteopathic (DO) Medical Schools
The Whitman College Premedical Advisory Committee (PMAC) helps facilitate your applications to MD and DO medical schools by offering the following services: an interview, a comprehensive Committee letter of evaluation, collection of individual evaluations, and submission of your letter of evaluation packet.
If you are a Whitman graduate from 2012 or earlier and planning to submit an application in Summer 2013, OR
If you are a Senior graduating and leaving campus in May 2013 (even if you are NOT planning on applying in Summer 2013), OR
If you are a Junior (May 2014 grad) and planning to submit an application in Summer 2013….
…. The PMAC will be conducting its interviews and evaluations for applicants from Feb-April,

Materials for the interview
We will ask you to compile and submit a dossier of materials for the PMAC to review. Most of these materials will also be included in your primary MD (AMCAS) and DO (AACOMAS) applications that you will complete in the summer.
The following items must be submitted at least two weeks before your scheduled interview.
The first four items below must be compiled into a single electronic file (Word or a pdf file)
A) Identifying information
C) Personal comments
D) Autobiographical statement
The next two items can be submitted as paper copies or as a scanned (pdf) file
F) MCAT scores
The final item will be solicited by you and submitted to the Committee on your behalf.
G) Individual letters of evaluation (these may be submitted after your interview)

Letters of evaluation are an essential and critical component of the application process.
The applicant fills out and signs the top section and provides a copy to each evaluator. The evaluator will return the evaluation to Jim Russo, Health Professions Advisor.

For most allopathic schools, you first complete the primary centralized application (AMCAS), sponsored by the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC)
For osteopathic schools, you first complete the primary centralized application (AACOMAS), sponsored by the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM)

55 dental schools participate in the common application administered by the American Dental Education Association
• Application to Pharmacy Schools
Pharmacy schools participate in the common application (PharmCAS) administered by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacies
• Application to Physician Assistant Schools
Physician Assistant Schools participate in the common application (CASPA) administered by the Physician Assistant Education Association
• Application to Schools of Nursing

Starting in Spring 2010, a centralized application service is starting for an initial group of nursing schools.
As of Summer 2010, none of the schools in OR or WA were listed as participants in NursingCAS for Fall 2010 applications.

30 Schools of Public Health participate in the common application (SOPHAS) administered by the American Association of Schools of Public Health
• Application to Schools of Veterinary Medicine
32 Veterinary Medical Colleges participate in the common application (VMCAS) administered by the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges
