So, what exactly is GLBTQ?
“It’s a community, an identity, a culture. A safe space.” (rhetoric and film studies major)
“A social group for people who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or queer/questioning. At Whitman, GLBTQ is a supportive community of like-minded people who meet to discuss issues that are relevant to our community. We also like to have fun just getting to know each other; since the thing that binds us all together encompasses a lot of different types of people, we have a lot of different perspectives in this group. It's pretty rad.” (music major)
“The Whitman community's space for students to explore, discuss, and support each other through shared experiences and viewpoints on sexuality and gender identity. The group has the capacity to be a support group, a space for intellectual discussion, and also just a place to hang out with a great group of people.” (psychology major)
“A network of supportive friends- fun to be around, there when you need them- that's much more than a one hour weekly meeting.” (1st year student)
"GLBTQ is a social group. It meets once a week and also has various other events going on throughout the year. The main goal is just to give GLBTQ students a place to chill and relax, build community and such." (gender studies major)
"A fun supportive community, where you can meet people, get advice, share experiences." (religion major)
"A weekly get-together with random Whitman GLBTQ folk affording members the chance to share whatever detail, intimate or humorous, they like with the group. Members occasionally seek advice, but for me it is a weekly event with other GLBTQ-ers to look forward to." (english major)
