A testimony of early alumni support for Whitman is found in the “Class of 1908 Bridge” near Maxey Hall and the Cordiner Glen. Dedicated in 1918 on the occasion of their 10th reunion, the footbridge is an example of the legacy that your reunion fund gift, whether a scholarship or building project, will offer for future generations of students. Each year, four reunion funds are chaired by volunteers from the 10th, 25th, 40th, and 50th reunion classes. All gifts in this fiscal year and pledges for the next two years from classmates are counted in the reunion fund, regardless of designation.
As you reflect on your contribution to the reunion fund, please consider making a gift this year and including a pledge for the following four years. As an example, to maximize your support towards your class project, you might consider a $5,000 gift to your reunion fund — a gift of $1,000 this year with a pledge of $4,000 to be paid over the next four years.
In the October issue of the Whitman magazine, all contributors are featured by class year in the college's annual report of gifts. Classmates who make contributions exceeding $1,000 in a fiscal year are also recognized as members of the President's Gift Societies.
For more information about your class's reunion fund, contact Brian Dohe, Director, Annual Fund.
