How is my need-based scholarship amount determined?
The amount of your scholarship depends on how much need you demonstrate and the year you entered Whitman. We use award charts that establish a specific percentage of scholarship and grant funds at various need levels. However, the needs and goals of the college change periodically, so the award charts also change from year to year. This means that different award charts may be used for different entering classes, but the chart used for one entering class is used for that class throughout its four years at Whitman. Therefore, three students who all have the same computed need could have different amounts of gift aid awarded to them if they entered Whitman in three different years.
