Many students qualify for scholarship funds, but not everyone. About half of Whitman students receive need-based scholarship funds, while some other students receive academic merit-based scholarships, and still others receive non-need-based scholarships in special programs. The majority of Whitman scholarship funds go to students whose family contribution is less than the yearly student budget, and therefore have demonstrated need. About 80 percent of students receive some form of financial aid.
