Can everyone qualify for scholarships and/or grants?

Many students qualify for scholarship funds, but not everyone. About half of Whitman students receive need-based scholarship funds, while some other students receive academic merit-based scholarships, and still others receive non-need-based scholarships in special programs. The majority of Whitman scholarship funds go to students whose family contribution is less than the yearly student budget, and therefore have demonstrated need.
