Welcome to Whitman College's Financial Aid Services webpages for new and prospective students.  We hope that you will find the answers to all of your questions on our website, but welcome your calls, emails or letters to help you understand the financial aid process.

We understand that selecting the right college as well as managing the rising cost of education can be daunting, particularly given the cost of a private school.  Our goal in financial aid is to make the process of applying for financial aid as easy as possbile, and to provide access and opportunity for as many students as our funding will allow.  A typical financial aid award includes institutional gift aid, federal or state grant if the student meets the qualifications, loans and employment opportunity.

The majority of our scholarship funds are awarded to students on the basis of need, but we do offer a limited number of merit-based scholarships as well.  Information about those scholarships may be found by selecting "Whitman Scholarships" on the left.  Application forms and deadlines are listed in "Applying for Financial Aid."
