Whitman College, a private, selective, non-sectarian, residential college of the liberal arts and sciences with approximately 1400 students and 120 faculty, located in southeastern Washington State, is conducting searches to fill a variety of faculty positions, both continuing and temporary. CHINESE (Language and Culture):  Tenure track position in Chinese, with expertise in Chinese language, Classical Chinese literature, and Asian Studies, at the rank of assistant professor.  Effective August 2010.  Ph.D. required. The holder of this position will teach 6 courses per year, including 4 language courses at all levels and 2 courses in classical literature, theatre, poetry, and language pedagogy. The candidate must also be willing to teach Asian Studies 160, Introduction to Asian Studies, when necessary and to participate in the Asian Studies Senior Seminar and direct senior theses.
