About Us

Whitman Cycling began in 2002 with a handful of students who liked to ride bikes and decided to start a club and check out collegiate racing. Now the team boasts over a dozen national titles including Team Overall (2005, 2006, 2009, 2010), Women's Team Time Trial (2004-2007, 2009, 2010), Women's Road Race (2005-2007), Women's Individual Omnium and Women's Criterium (2009). At least a dozen podium placings also accompany these titles.

A team is not just its title, though.

Whitman Cycling prides itself on being a self-run, all-inclusive and involved team. There are no paid coaches to rely upon, so cyclists are responsible for every detail: fundraising, organizing transportation, procuring sponsors, writing newsletters, designing and ordering the uniform, maintaining the website, teaching workshops and more! The team also embraces all backgrounds of cycling from novice to professional, as long as you're excited to race & do your part to help run and be involved with the team! The team has also found ways to reach out into the community in recent years by participating in the Gran Fondo, an event to raise money for the local cancer center, and putting on bike rodeos for local elementary schools in order to educate children in bike safety.
