Mission: Birthright is an emergency pregnancy service staffed by volunteers who provide positive support during and following pregnancy for girls and women who need help. We provide no-cost pregnancy tests, maternity clothes, adoption information, and counseling referrals.
Volunteer Opportunities: We need volunteers to help staff the office and to help with special projects.
Required Skills: A Birthright volunteer needs to first agree with our Charter. We could definately use someone who can speak Spanish.
Skills Learned: Leaning how a volunteer organization is run. They will also gain communication skills working with clients who come into the office.
Training: We currently provide on the job training, during our office hours. A prospective volunteer comes in and is trained by the volunteer on duty.

Mission: Planned Parenthood exists to assure that all people are empowered to make reproductive health choices and have access to quality health care and sexuality education required to exercise those choices.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Shorter term (one time, occasional or less than 3 months):
Long term (3 months plus commitment): Assisting with clinic services.
Required Skills: Belief in pro-choice values and politics; willingness to try a task at least once; reliability. If volunteering in the clinic, an interest in the medical field and Spanish language skills are a bonus.

Training: Volunteers are oriented and trained by staff at our health center or at a pre-arranged meeting spot. The timing and depth of orientation depends on the project and the schedule of the volunteer.

Volunteer Opportunities: Reading to children; helping with kids' activities while moms are in support group meetings; sorting donations of clothing and housewares; cleaning toys; misc. maintenance projects like painting, repairing a playhouse; doing the weekly grocery shopping for childcare programs; misc. office work; serving as extra hands for childcare fieldtrips; making special presentations to girls in Mariposa program
Required Skills: Positive attitude; flexibility; Spanish language skills are a plus; confidentiality; ability to pass background check; must enjoy workingwith children
Skills Learned: Organization; problem solving; working with groups; learning about community organizations and the culture of a nonprofit organization
Training: There is no regular schedule at this point. Orientation and training will occur prior to volunteering starts. Volunteer Types:
